S.Carlone  è una statua fatta di lastre di rame  dedicata a S.Carlo Borromeo   che nacque

sul posto nel 1538 e fu dichiarato santo nel 1610 dopo aver fatto  torturare e bruciare

circa un migliaio di streghe nel milanese. La statua arriva a un'altezza totale di 35 m

con il piedestallo che e' alto 11,5 metri. E' visibile dal lago Maggiore, ma per fortuna

tende a confondersi con le chiome degli alberi.

Come se non bastasse, i visitatori possono anche entrare dentro il S.Carlone e risalire

fino alla testa e al naso!

Non saro' cosi' maligno da nominare i progettisti e gli esecutori di tanto orrore.

S.Carlone is a statue made of copper sheets. It was consecrated to S.Carlo Borromeo

who was born in the same place in 1538 and was declared saint in 1610 after he

tortured and burnt about one thousand  witches in the Milano area.

The statue reaches a total height of  35 m including the base which is 11.5 m high.

It is visible from Lake Maggiore but fortunately it is not so easily discernible owing

to the high tree tops that surround it.

As it were not enough, the visitors can also enter the S.Carlone up to the  head

and into the nose!

I shall not be so mean to mention the fellows who projected and built this horrible thing.
